Whilst large companies receive most of the media’s attention, SMEs are a crucial part of the UK economy, accounting for 99.5% of UK firms and over half of UK employment. Their business acts as the engine room of the economy generating over £1 trillion per year GDP.
Our aim is to mobilise and galvanise support for Europe amongst the business community in the UK. We want to reach to all businesses across the UK, from large corporations in the city of London to smaller businesses in the regions.
There are many areas where the EU could help SMEs. The “Small Business Act” of the EU is a project which needs to be built upon. Funding of SMEs, for example is an area of great importance and the EU should endeavour to bear in mind in all its policymaking.
